ABOUT US

Racer X² is an all-female team consisting of fourteen passionate high-schoolers and mentors who are dedicated to making our project come to life. Based in Temple City, California, we are a proudly Asian-founded team that values R.A.C.E.R.:  representation, ambition, community, empowerment, and revolution. With this project, Racer X² hopes to challenge the stereotypes of what a solar car/team may look like. We strive to bring fresh ideas and innovation to the competition each year. Beyond building our car, we are committed to providing meaningful experiences for our high school students by offering opportunities for them to apply their skills on a real-world project.

MEET OUR MENTORS

  • Steve Lam

    MECHANICAL MENTOR

Steve Lam owns and has been operating an automotive service/repair and customization business since 2009. He’s worked on cars hand on for about 29 years. Steve used to do a lot of high performance driving events (road course time trials) and raced in some endurance races. He learned CAD and studied Industrial Technology at Cal State LA. He has worked in many aspects in the industry with companies such as Nissan USA, Denso Stillen, and AEM. As for experience working with student groups, he helped Heliotech for two years, building the team to what it is today. With his experience around automobiles in different capacities, he wants to use everything he’s learned to help RX² strive in designing, engineering, building and competing.
